The factory buildings where Port-A-Cool units are made.The facility where PortA-Cool® units are manufactured is located in Center, Texas, and covers more than 362,975 square feet. PortA-Cool® units and KUUL® pads are produced in this impressive plant. The plant also houses General Shelters Rotomold Division, which produces the one piece plastic housing of the PortA-Cool® units.

Since its beginning in 1973 as a company with one product, General Shelters has enjoyed consistent growth. Today, General Shelters manufactures many products and is recognized as an industry leader.

Nestled in the beautiful piney woods of East Texas - 150 miles southeast of Dallas, 120 miles northeast of Houston and 17 miles west of the Louisiana border - this small town still maintains the look, feel and hospitality of the original community, while also enjoying the modernization due in large part to the manufacturing and technological advances attained by General Shelters.
